Thank you for the quick reply.   I think I would qualify for LEED GA exam under the second category although I would have to check it with the USGBC exactly. Based on what you have explained to me I think you would qualify for the LEED GA exam with your work experience but you will still need Green Associate exam materials and our course includes the materials you need.

However, I have several questions regarding your training course…. So, are you saying that after I take your LPME course, I will be qualified to take, not only for the LEED GA exam, but also, LEED AP+ exam as well?  That is exactly what I am saying that our letter of attestation we provide to you upon completion of either the self paced course or one day course will meet the eligibility requirements for the LEED GA & LEED AP exam with a money back guarantee if the Green Building Certification Institute does not accept the experience we provide to you. We have never had a student fail to qualify for these two exams with our experience program.

Howe much is that course and how long is it? And, if I go with the self paced on-line option, how long is that course? Is this going to be a combination of podcast & slides together (can you give me the exact rundown of how this is done)? The self paced program consist of watching several hour of video instruction and then we invite you to LEEDonline.com where you will complete your credit assignment. Once you have completed the credit assignment our instructor will verify your work experience has been done correctly and we will issue the letter of attestation you need for exam qualification. It takes about the same amount of time six hours. The cost for the self paced course would $250 with your discount.

Also, can I set up the exam date like one or two days after the successful completion of this course in Korea? Once you receive your letter of attestation you will go to GBCI.org and qualify yourself for the exams and that can take up to 24 hours and once you receive approval from GBCI.org you can usually schedule and take your exam within 48 hours. How many days would it take to ship the learning materials to Seoul, Korea? Everything we provide with the two options is online access and downloadable so it is not necessary for us to ship anything unless you would like to pay an extra $100 for the hardcopy materials to be sent to you plus $30 for shipping.  Do you accept payment through credit card? For starters, take stock of what your true goal is: Is it to join the every-growing green industry and become a part of the biggest sustainable movement our country has ever seen? If so, getting your LEED Green Associate title is a much easier way to show understanding of the LEED Rating System and get your foot in the door now, rather than spending many more hours studying for the LEED AP exam. You will have wound up spending less than half of the money necessary to get your LEED AP, and you will still be recognized by the building industry as an important part of the Environmental and Energy-Efficient Design world.

Secondly, consider what you gain by pushing for the LEED AP Test: You do gain an additional, harder-to-get title, which is useful. And by being a LEED AP, you’ll grant an additional point to any project you work on, which can also come in handy — especially for those projects where one point could make or break certification. However, if you’re one of many LEED APs on a project, the project still only gets one point regardless of how many LEED APs are on it… and on many projects, one point isn’t always a major tipping point. This isn’t to say having the LEED AP on staff for a project isn’t useful, only that a LEED GA can be just as helpful as a LEED AP to the most important part of a project – completing credits.

We used to offer a five week long program with meetings typically lasting 1.5 – 2.0 hours and the total course time would be 10 hours. The problem we found with that prolonged program is that people would often miss sessions and not complete the required program requirements to allow us to issue the Letter of Attestation. We now offer one single 7-8 hour session with supplemental videos and resources that the student can watch to enhance their LEED Project Experience, and best of all they get the Letter of Attestation the same day so they can go take the LEED exam. Our students can still be involved with the project and have access to the LEED Certification Project through LEED Online as long as they want. • The Addition of Three Additional Credit Categories. LEED 2012 will see the addition of the Integrated Process, Location and Transportation, and Performance categories to the already familiar Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, Innovation in Design and Regional Priority credit categories… bringing the total to 10 instead of 7. This will also come with an additional 6 prerequisites above the 9 already included in LEED Version 3.
• Reorganization of Many Existing LEED Credits. This reorganization will include more stringent measures, such as further restricting applicable building sites, more limited parking measures, the requirement to provide fuel-efficient vehicles, and many other changes. In almost all cases, the new rating system draft is more restrictive than the existing rating system.
• More Rating Systems under the Building Design & Construction Umbrella. Currently, Building Design and Construction only includes LEED for New Construction & Major Renovation, LEED for Core & Shell, and LEED for Schools. Under LEED 2012, this reference guide will also cover LEED for Retail, LEED for Data Centers, LEED for Warehouses & Distribution Centers, and LEED for Hospitality.

What does this mean for you? If you haven’t yet become a LEED AP, it means a significantly more complicated test where you will have to learn additional credits for a total of 7 rating systems to pass the LEED for BD&C test. If you haven’t yet registered a LEED project, it means you could face stricter prerequisites that may disqualify you from attaining LEED certification in the first place.

LEED for Building Design & Construction (BD+C) : This is the most common and most used rating system, largely because it covers all new buildings. If your project doesn’t exist as anything more than an idea or some drawings, then you’re going to be using the BD+C system. It covers new construction, major renovations, as well as any modifications to the core & shell of the building. Also, if your project is a school, that too will fall under the BD+C system. 9 times out of 10, this is the system you’ll be using.

LEED for Interior Design & Construction (ID+C) : Many people mistakenly think the ID+C rating system applies to interior design, when it mostly focuses on the interior renovation of a space where the core & shell remain intact. Projects like taking over a space at a shopping center, or renovating a floor in a multi-story office complex would all fall under the umbrella of Interior Design & Construction.

LEED for Existing Buildings Operations & Maintenance (EB:O+M) : In a LEED for O+M project, no renovations are necessarily taking place at all. In fact, this rating system mostly focuses on HOW you manage and operate an existing building, in such a manner that all those processes and strategies fall in line with the ideal of sustainable practices. If you are going to be taking over an existing space where no construction is needed, O+M is the proper rating system for you.

LEED for New Homes : As the name suggests, this is targeted at new, residential single-occupant homes – not large apartment complexes or tower blocks. Most often, a builder will want to certify a particular home design as LEED for Homes certified, instead of having to certify each individual building.

LEED for Neighborhood Development (ND) : This rating system is focused on larger, master-planned communities. The idea of this rating system is to ensure the ease-of-use of a particular area’s infrastructure, enabling residents to get from place to place on foot, and giving them close access to certain basic services. A LEED ND community is comfortable for the residents, and is designed with minimal environmental impact in mind.

Now, bear in mind that no matter what specialized exam you take, you can always work on any LEED Project you like, regardless of which rating system it’s registered for, and the project will still receive your single point.
